Guidelines for choosing a good password
The number of people who have ridiculously insecure passwords still surprises me. Having worked in a job where I was supposed to collect all the users’ passwords (I refused, creating a whole lot of extra work for the help desk and myself), I’ve seen a fair few when it wasn’t communicated to users that was in fact not going to collect their passwords.
I don’t understand how passwords are that difficult. I may be the exception to the rule, but on a daily basis I use five to seven so different passwords to access different things (I have four passwords for work stuff, two legacy “secure” personal passwords, and one or two “insecure” personal passwords besides)
All of my work passwords as well as my “secure” personal passwords are a series of random letters (both upper and lower case), numbers and symbols. I understand this isn’t for everyone, but seriously, mnemonics are your friend!
Take the chance now to change your password to something more secure.
